How can I be sure that my order has the proper documents to be

cleared by Canada Customs?

Unfortunately there is no real way for you to be positive that your US supplier will provide the required or even correct documentation for shipping internationally. However, by using M AND M FORWARDING Consolidation we create verification or “check points” prior to attempting to clear your goods.  M AND M FORWARDING will help you be sure that your shipment has all of necessary documentation before you create your Canada customs entry. The staff at  M AND M FORWARDING inspects and will verify each parcel and pallet to increase compliance, consistency, quality, and ease of doing cross-border business.

How will I know if my shipment needs corrected customs documents?

Many US suppliers are simply not familiar with or not informed well enough to comply with the requirements for shipping to Canada. M AND M FORWARDING provides you with a daily detailed, multi-carrier, report to inform you of all shipments received that day and of all non-compliance. If required, M AND M FORWARDING will do a complete inspection of your shipment to gain the details needed.  M AND M FORWARDING understands the ultimate goal is to provide the correct customs information to assist Canada Customs with clearing your shipment.

What types of cost savings can I realize?

There are a number of cost savings associated with having a US consolidation partner including operational savings, money saved in freight delays and lost inventory as well as shipping and brokerage. The hard-cost savings your company will experience should be in both shipping and customs brokerage costs. Check out this case study for more insight of how shipping and customs savings can be realized.

Why do I need a US Business Address?

M AND M FORWARDING's use of business address allows your company to provide your suppliers with a US business location for shipping your orders. This makes it easier for your suppliers to choose domestic carriers and should expedite the time to process your orders. It also provides your company with a more International presence that you can promote on business literature and websites by listing this US location.

How can I be sure my shipments are safe and not lost in the shipping stream?

M AND M FORWARDING consolidation program ensures a timely safe delivery. Our staff understands the complexities of cross-border requirements, and will provide you with a personal approach to the shipment handling process.  We try to remove the possibility of having your shipment stuck in limbo waiting to clear customs. Multi-parcel shipments can be consolidate and held to ship to you complete.  M AND M FORWARDING drivers are experienced with the cross-border process. They are able personally clear and deliver your shipment using M AND M FORWARDING trucks.

I also ship orders to the US. What do I do with my returns from my US customers?

This process is the same only in reverse. You will now be able to provide your US customer with a US address for returning items. Once received M AND M FORWARDING will notify you that the goods have arrived and if applicable we will provide you with a RA number. This will allow you to process any credits or reships without actually having the goods at your location. Returns may also be the result of a non-deliverable package (as addressed) as well as shipments refused at time of delivery. This service allows you to process this information and returns these goods to sellable inventory in a timely manner. The result is the disposition of the goods can be expedited avoiding costly storage charges.

What if my freight cannot move or needs to stay put for a period of time?

We provide both short term and long term storage options on-site in our 117,000 square foot secure warehouse. There are times when freight needs to wait to be consolidated with other freight or there are complex issues precluding clearance. We can provide short term space as either part of your service package when these delays are recurring or as an emergency add- on for an unforeseen delay. We also offer very competitive rates for long term storage (over 1 month) if your goods need to set for a longer period of time.

Typical Problems that

Hold Freight Up

There are many circumstances that can cause a slow down or stoppage of your freight in the cross border process.

In many other consolidation programs, this freight either gets set aside and “dealt with later” or is delayed at the border, even to the extreme of needing to be placed in a bonded warehouse.

Because we personally cross your freight over the border, we identify any issues up front and then quickly work with you to resolve those issues.

We know how important your freight is, and our program is designed to deal with the exceptions quickly and not as an afterthought.

We also make recommendations on process changes with your suppliers to help reduce on-going clearance challenges they may be creating – which saves you more time and money.
